During converter steelmaking, cold steel, skull buildup and refractory deposits continuously adhere to the inner wall of the tap hole, resulting in reduced bore diameter, distorted hole profile and unstable tapping flow.
Reaming and truing: Ream, straighten and clear cold steel and skull from blocked, constricted or deformed tap holes to restore the designed bore diameter, ensuring smooth and stable steel tapping flow.
Supporting hot replacement of tap-hole sleeve bricks: Ream and clean the hole before hot replacement of sleeve / seat bricks to enable smooth centering and fitting of new bricks and convenient sealing with filling material. It is core equipment for hot tap-hole maintenance.
Tapping time control: Stabilize the bore size to prevent slow tapping and early slag carry-over, facilitate slag stopping operation, reduce rephosphorization and inclusions in molten steel, and stabilize steel quality.
Clear completely blocked tap holes: Resolve sudden blockages and avoid unplanned converter downtime.
High working efficiency: Hydraulic impact-rotation operation completes reaming and deslagging within 5–15 minutes. Compared with oxygen lancing and manual pneumatic picks, it saves 20–30 minutes per cycle, cuts hot downtime and improves converter availability.
Regular bore shape and good concentricity: The 3-flute / 4-lobe conical bit forms the hole in one pass, delivering a straight bore with smooth inner surface. New sleeve bricks fit tightly, extending the service life of tap-hole refractories and lowering frequent brick replacement costs.
Wide adaptability: Customizable bit specifications according to converter capacity and tap-hole diameter, suitable for 60–300 ton converters.
