When the EAF is shut down for major relining, the gantry frame of the machine spans across the furnace body. The telescopic breaking arm extends into the furnace to crush aged, spalled and sintered refractory bricks and residual lining on the furnace wall, slope and hearth. All waste refractories can be cleared at one time to prepare for new lining installation.
No long cooling period is required between heats. The breaking chisel head removes slag accretions and cold steel skulls adhered to the furnace wall, restoring the effective furnace volume and guaranteeing smelting efficiency.
Clear slag buildup and splashed cold steel at the furnace mouth to facilitate charging, temperature measurement and sampling operations.
During overhaul, the machine directly crushes and removes the whole set of seat bricks, sleeve bricks and end bricks inside the EBT nose box, thoroughly cleaning the eccentric tapping box for full refractory replacement.
Fitted with a three-flute tungsten carbide tapping hole reaming bit, the equipment can drill through sintered blocked tapholes under hot conditions and clear slag and solidified steel inside the channel to ensure smooth steel tapping.
Large steel slag masses easily accumulate outside the eccentric tapping box. The long reach of the gantry machine enables precise cleaning of dead corners around the EBT, preventing accumulated steel from interfering with furnace tilting and tapping operations.
