Maintenance Methods for Metallurgical Machinery

Including daily maintenance, periodic maintenance, key maintenance contents, blast furnace maintenance, and hydraulic system maintenance.

1. Daily Maintenance

Daily maintenance mainly involves equipment cleaning, lubrication, and other basic measures. These practices enable timely detection of equipment failures and potential hazards, prevent equipment accidents, and improve equipment reliability and safety.

2. Periodic Maintenance

Periodic maintenance primarily includes equipment inspection, adjustment, and troubleshooting. Regular maintenance and fault elimination ensure the normal operation of equipment and extend its service life.

3. Key Maintenance Contents

The maintenance of metallurgical equipment covers daily maintenance, periodic maintenance, and overhaul maintenance:
  • Daily maintenance: Focuses on cleaning, lubrication, etc.;

  • Periodic maintenance: Involves inspection, adjustment, etc.;

  • Overhaul maintenance: Includes equipment disassembly, replacement of parts, etc.

4. Blast Furnace Maintenance

The blast furnace is the core smelting equipment in metallurgical enterprises, especially in iron and steel production. Its performance directly affects the quality of steel. Therefore, improving blast furnace maintenance standards to maximize its high-performance operation time has always been a top priority for metallurgical enterprises. Specific measures are as follows:
  • Increase cooling water flow rate and enhance cooling intensity;

  • Suppress edge gas flow, develop central gas flow, and monitor cross temperature measurement to ensure the edge gas temperature does not exceed 100℃;

  • Adopt effective external furnace spraying measures to maintain reasonable external cooling, reduce temperature field fluctuations, and prevent furnace shell overheating;

  • Adjust water flow according to wind pressure to protect cooling staves;

  • Strictly control the temperature of demineralized water: The inlet temperature of demineralized water shall be strictly maintained at 40±2℃ to relatively improve cooling intensity, reduce the damage risk of cooling staves under peak heat flux, ensure the normal operation of degassing tanks and expansion tanks, reduce corrosion of water pipes by dissolved oxygen in water, and extend the service life of cooling staves;

  • Stabilize furnace temperature to minimize fluctuation amplitude and frequency, reducing thermal shock to cooling staves; maintain stable basicity to prevent softening-melting zone fluctuations; prohibit centralized addition of silica and coke to avoid affecting slag formation system and reducing furnace temperature fluctuations;

  • In daily operations, stabilizing the slag formation system and thermal system to form a reasonable softening-melting zone is the basic measure to maintain the integrity of cooling staves;

  • Utilize multi-ring burden distribution to optimize central gas flow while balancing edge gas flow, which is an important means to ensure the safe and stable operation of cooling staves.

5. Hydraulic System Maintenance

The maintenance methods for the hydraulic system of metallurgical equipment are as follows:
  • Control internal pollution sources in the hydraulic system: Before installing the hydraulic system, use a high-flow flushing device to create turbulent flow in the system, flushing out all types of contaminants. Meanwhile, strengthen the management of hydraulic oil and hydraulic components to ensure the standardization of selected hydraulic oil and components;

  • Prevent external contaminants from entering the system to maintain hydraulic system performance.

Through the above methods and measures, the maintenance of metallurgical machinery can be effectively carried out, ensuring the normal operation of equipment and the continuity of production.
