Two snorkels of the vacuum vessel are immersed into molten steel in the ladle. Argon gas is injected into the up snorkel to form an air-lift column to lift molten steel. The molten steel circulates continuously into the high-vacuum chamber for various metallurgical reactions under low pressure, then flows back into the ladle to achieve continuous cyclic refining.
It further purifies the molten steel preliminarily smelted by converters to produce high-quality and high value-added steel grades.
The linings of the RH vacuum vessel, snorkels (up snorkel and down snorkel) are constructed with high-grade magnesia-chrome / magnesia-carbon refractory materials.
Steel mills routinely use converter hot patching machines and RH gunning machines for hot repairing of refractory linings on RH snorkels and vacuum vessel.
